Pete's sales career began in Houston, Texas in 1978, where he specialized in new sailboats and trawlers. Time on the water — Lake Michigan, Galveston Bay, the Gulf and the Bahamas — gave him hands-on knowledge of the product he sells, not just a price sheet.
In 1983 he moved to Florida's Space Coast after sailing the Bahamas, and took a position with Waterline Yachts. A few years later the Petersons pointed their Westsail 32 south and sailed into Naples — and a friend convinced Pete to hang his own shingle instead of joining a dealer.
So in 1988 he founded Naples Yacht Brokerage: the first independent, full-service yacht brokerage in Collier County. Nearly four decades later it is the oldest independent brokerage in Naples — still owner-run, still on the water.
Today the office sits at the Naples Boat Club, above the Ship's Store on Naples Bay, with a condominium boathouse, marine service yard and wet slips at the door. Pete's philosophy hasn't changed: know the boats, answer your own phone, and look after the customer first.
Pete starts selling boats in Houston — new sailboats and trawlers — backed by real time on the water across Lake Michigan, Galveston Bay and the Gulf.
Following a stretch of sailing in the Bahamas, the Petersons move to Florida's Space Coast and Pete joins Waterline Yachts, deepening his motor-yacht and sailboat knowledge.
